December has a heartbeat all its own, steady and bright, full of footsteps, laughter, camera flashes, peppermint breath, and tiny hands tugging on Santa’s sleeve. We are right in the middle of it now, not at the beginning, not at the end, in that sacred place where everything feels alive.
This is the part of the season I love the most.

Our weekends are spent in studios where photographers have created whole worlds from their imaginations — cozy living rooms that look like Christmas Eve, snowy forest scenes that feel like stepping into a storybook, magical corners lit like candlelight on a winter night. And when Santa walks in, those rooms shift.
They become places of wonder.
Children’s eyes widen.
Parents soften.
Grandparents smile in that knowing, nostalgic way.
And I stand just off camera, quietly soaking it all in — humbled that this is part of our life.

Every season, there are moments that take my breath away.
A toddler who tentatively reaches for Santa’s gloved hand.
A shy child who finally whispers their Christmas wish.
Parents who tear up unexpectedly because seeing their child with Santa touches something deep — a memory, a hope, a prayer.
Siblings giggling so hard they fall into each other.
Teenagers pretending they’re too cool until suddenly… they’re not.

And then there are the families who walk in carrying a story heavier than any of us can see.
Recently, as we prepared for the Grace’s Gift event with Kids Joining Eternity, my heart felt especially tender.
Even in the midst of all the season’s joy, we held space for families whose Christmases now hold both laughter and loss. It was a humbling honor to show up for them — to witness their courage, their love, their resilience, and the ways they choose hope again and again.

And truly, December has a heartbeat all its own — one that asks us to hold joy and tenderness together, to notice the sacred woven into both the noise and the quiet. Being in the heart of the season means holding all of it at once — the noise, the joy, the meaning, the tears, the silliness, the exhaustion, the wonder.
And maybe that’s the beauty of Christmas.
Not that it’s perfect — but that it’s full.
Full of people doing their very best.
Full of traditions old and new.
Full of quiet, sacred moments tucked between the busy ones.
Full of opportunities to pause, to breathe, to notice.

Right now, as I write this, Santa is brushing the beard fluff off his coat. I’m packing the bag with candy canes. The schedule is full, and the days ahead will be busy. But here is the truth I hold close this time of year:
We are not just taking photos.
We are witnessing love and connection.
We are witnessing Christmas.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us — for reading, for following along, for sharing your stories, and for welcoming Kris Kringle into your homes and traditions.
