Letting Go & New Light
Letting go wasn’t easy. Watching the tree come down felt like closing a chapter we hadn’t wanted to end. The space it left behind felt startlingly bare. But as the days passed, I began to notice something unexpected: light. Sunlight now spills into corners of the yard that had long been shaded. The sky seems wider. There is room for something new.

Seasons of Life & Tradition
In many ways, this mirrors the season I find myself in. I’m not fully retired — I still work part-time from home — but life feels very different than before. I thought the transition would be smooth, after all, it was my decision. Yet it’s been bumpier than I expected. There are moments I can’t quite put into words, moments where I wonder how to fill the open spaces. Standing in the yard where the tree once stood, I realized something: loss doesn’t just leave emptiness; it also makes room for light, for growth, and for a new rhythm to emerge. That perspective has helped me step into this season with more hope than fear.
It reminds me, too, of the traditions many of us hold close — the deep-rooted customs passed down in families and communities. Whether it’s gathering for Christmas baking, sharing coffee and conversation around a table, or marking the turning of the seasons, these practices ground us. They remind us that even as life shifts, our roots of love, faith, and family remain strong. They are the steady forest floor from which new branches grow.
Community & Hope
Our neighbors reminded us of this truth. Through all three rounds of fallen branches, the cleanup delays, and even the tree removal itself, they met us with patience and grace. Their generosity of spirit was like fresh green shoots springing up in hard soil. It reminded me that community, like tradition, flourishes when kindness is sown.
Santa said it best: “Every ending is really a beginning dressed in different clothes.”
So while we will always carry gratitude for our old tree, we also carry hope. The space it left behind is not empty, but open — ready for new roots, new dreams, and new stories. And just as the seasons turn, we can trust that love, kindness, and new life will continue to grow, in our yard, in our traditions, and in our hearts.

A note from Santa’s desk

The magic of Christmas doesn’t have to wait until December. Our personalized Santa Letters are one of our favorite traditions — a keepsake to spark wonder and joy for children and grandchildren alike.
Each letter is lovingly prepared in the North Pole Workshop and can be mailed or delivered digitally, making it easy to share the Christmas spirit near or far.
